This is the key to overcome stress: finding your flow in meditation. But to get there is quite tricky, because in a situation of stress we usually tend to make two major mistakes: 1) Under pressure we forget how it was like to be in flow, to work on big challenges with an easy smile on our face. 2) Stuck in the middle of problems we often loose a healthy distance and oversight, only to emphasize more of the same activities which haven’t helped in the first place. Instead, learn love yourself first. Change will set in right here.
Center yourself regularly
It’s like running to stand still. How can one get out of this prison? Positive psychology is a valid inspiration for finding your flow in everyday life, namely through a different form of engagement: meditation. Find your own center, stop running on the same spot and leave the standstill. Instead of loosing yourself in mindless activity, get your life energy running and thus find the key to unlocking your full potential.
Make an appointment with yourself everyday
This first step with meditation may feel like a huge jump into the unknown. Sometimes one needs several attempts and encouragement too. That’s ok. I’ve had my own struggles with these issues. But there’s now way around. So start with small steps: have a daily appointment with yourself just for 5 or 10 minutes and try to be present in the moment. Support yourself by sitting in a nice comfortable place and concentrate on a relaxing picture, landscape or just a candle. In the end only focus on your breath.
But first and foremost: be kind to yourself and give yourself all the space you need.
